Austrian Sustainability Award 2010 for the Euroleague for Life Sciences

In the framework of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) the Austrian Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research developed the Sustainability Award for Universities, Universities for Applied Sciences and Universities of Education. Since 2008 this award is bestowed biannually in eight different fields of action.

At the ceremony on March 8 BOKU, the current chair of ELLS,  received the Sustainability Award 2010 in the field "European Integration" on behalf of the "Euroleague for Life Sciences"  for the common activities of this network.

According to the explanatory statement the award-winning projects show how much sustainable development has been integrated into education and research as well as into the other areas and the structures of the universities, universities of applied sciences and universities of education.
Sustainability has become a relevant topic in everyday life at universities.

 

 

DEA’s Internationalisation Award for EnvEuro

Associate Professor Bjarne W. Strobel and the group behind the international MSc programme “EnvEuro” (European MSc in ”Environmental Science: Soil, Water and Biodiversity) have been given DEA’s Internationalisation Award (DEA stands for Danish Business Research Academy), because "they have in an exemplary way developed and implemented a very successful MSc programme and a series of international courses of which more are 100 per cent E-learning courses".

The award was presented by Minister for Science and Technology Charlotte Sahl-Madsen at an award ceremony on 24 November 2010 and is accompanied by DKK 100,000.
